In 2018, Imaginuity was asked to pitch the website for the Wimberley Chamber of Commerce. Our challenge was to create a comprehensive destination marketing campaign, both state-wide and nationally, to attract tourists to Wimberley, TX — on a small town budget.

When you say, “Wimberley, TX”, it automatically elicits a smile, and a recommendation. And if you’ve never been there, you’ve probably seen gorgeous pictures from all of your friends-in-the-know showing off all of the great spots to enjoy in Wimberley, Texas.

 

How can we take advantage of how much people love Wimberley, TX?

We meet future visitors and travelers where they are, and encourage our #wimbassadors to show off what they’re already proud of sharing in the social media world — in the real world.

Each month, the Chamber of Commerce would reach out to Instagrammers with the most liked photos using the hashtag #wondersofwimberley. Some of the Wimberley fans would be asked to curate Wimbassador Guides for future visitors, while the frequent flyers of the group would be given customized suitcases imprinted with their photo to attract other travelers while they wait in the airport lines and hotel lobbies.

Additional tactics include taking advantage of geotargeting combined with voice and messaging AI to suggest places to eat, shop and explore in Wimberley using a growing database of recommendations and helping photo-savvy visitors get more followers by using their Instagram photos on Wimberley marketing material. All tactics concepted were (and still can be) small-town-budget-friendly, costing less than $1,000 per month to execute.
